Well it's official, my Romanian language classes are paying off.  Yesterday while John was painting in our two bedroom flat, I ventured out by myself into our neighborhood to give out vegetable seeds, chocolate, and a gospel tract.  I boldly stood at people's gates and called out to them so that I could give them a gift for their garden for free.  I was able to tell them my name and that I was from Canada all in Romanian!  I received lots of hugs, kisses, and blessings along with a few more words that I could not understand but my heart could.  I was so proud of myself.

Most of you know that two weeks ago John came down with Bell's Palsy and he looks like he had a stroke.  He has been seen by a private doctor and is on meds.  The meds are slowly working but this ailment might take eight months to a year to get back to normal.  This has happened just on the heels of Randy and his wife Sigi coming from Winnipeg to film and document the work we are involved in here in Romania.  John refuses to go on camera!  This video will be used to update our Gateway to Hope website.  Randy is also making a short video clip for us to show around Canada and Norway.

Life here on the mission field finds us all extremely busy.  The hospital ministry is on once again.  There is at this time a three month old Turkish gypsy girl who reminds me of Abigail, my grand daughter.  She has the most beautiful brown eyes and a head full of black hair.  When I saw her the first time I noticed she didn't have a name so I gave her one.  At the same time there also arrived a little boy approximately five months old who reminded me of Darcey's grandson so I named him Micka.  Every time we visit them we call ourselves Grandma.  You can bet that we've dragged Grandpa in there to see them also.  Please pray with us that a great family will come an adopt them.  Although it will be hard to see them go, we always pray that all these children will find a home and escape their daily neglect.

In February I began to help teach a women's group every Thursday afternoon who were interested to learn more about God.  This ministry was spear headed by our interpreter in her village/home and it's been a privilege to come alongside her with my skills.  On Mother's Day, which is March 8th here in Romania, 42 women came for the first ever party held in their honor through this outreach.  Approximately 12 women come on a regular basis every Thursday to discover who Jesus is.

One of our greatest joys here is to come alongside other ministries and help when and where we can. Last summer we cooked for a missionary team across the Danube from us who were hosting 20 plus people from the USA.  They called us again this week and said the same team had asked that we once again do the cooking for them this coming August.  It's so important to serve and support others to help build God's kingdom when the opportunity arises although we don't know how much more of this we will be able to do once our Rasa Family Centre is open.  Our grand opening ceremony is set for May 27th.
