Hot and Fun Filled Summer

Monday, August 7, 2017

It's been only 3 months since our last letter but life has been moving at a fast pace for us. So much has been happening during this time but I will attempt to fill you in and also try to keep this letter short. Firstly, in May we (The Rasa team) held a grand opening celebration for the building. Those of you who follow us on facebook may have seen pictures. It was a wonderful time giving God thanks with fellow Christians from Canada, U.S.A., Norway and Romania, for how He has provided the funds, workers and support for the calling to which He has called us to do here in Romania. On Friday evening we held a banquet for 100 or more people, then we opened our doors to the community by invitations to come and see what we are about, on Saturday. Our Pastor Ron McLean and Elder, Dale Janisse from Winnipeg spoke in several venues during their 5 days visit with us.

John and I flew back to Winnipeg with our Pastors and spent 6 weeks visiting family and friends. God opened doors for us to share our adventures with 5 churches and we felt such love and support from all those places. It was exciting to meet many new friends in the Kingdom of God and we are praying that some will come here to fellowship with us and get involved with the ministry here.

Upon returning, we hit the ground running. We had 250 boxes of second hand clothing and shoes waiting for us to distribute to the poor and countless boxes of dishes and toys to sort out for the centres personal use from our friends and partners in Norway. John and I spent 1 week sorting and disinfecting all the things we needed. John focused on the kitchen and I focused on the children's program. During this time I lifted some heavy boxes upstairs and injured my back. I was unable to move for 5 days.

This weekend, we (The Rasa team) had a free give away for our neighbors to enjoy the extra supplies we had. Darcy spent 3 days going through countless boxes of clothing to prepare for this event It was a great turn-out and many people were blessed. This is what we call , Kindness Evangelism. This under taking was very successful because of a Romanian couple who have just joined our ministry.(Vali and Amelia) Our ability to speak to the Romanian people is very poor and we are always praying that God would send us more Romanian people to work alongside us. The only difficulty we face was when John dropped his iPhone after bringing new boxes of clothing for 2 men. One of the men picked it up and took it, we had to give a reward for it to be returned after several phone calls to the man. (Just a glimpse of Romanian life here!)

John has been given the task of doing all of the paper work to track where all items are accounted for in this shipment from Norway, for the Government records. We need to prove that we did not make any money from the shipment. All this has to be completed by the end on August because we have another shipment coming in the beginning of September. We have asked our connection in Norway for furniture to outfit the centre and all of it's bedrooms.

Next week John and I are going to Banesa, Romania to help another missionary couple cook for a team they are receiving from the Unite States for 1 week. Team building and partnering with other missionaries is one of our joys that God has laid on our hearts. Paper work and applications for licensing are in various Governmental departments for the Rasa Family Centre to receive abandoned babies and to be a pro-life centre/ shelter for abused women with their children. Please pray that God would guide us and grant us much favor.
